CORPORATE PROFILE
Our client, a reputable mining firm is seeking an experienced Superintendent in Engineering and Maintenance Planning to lead strategic maintenance programs and optimize equipment performance in the mining sector.
ROLE DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and enforce engineering standards across all sites.

Manage site drawings and technical information, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
-
Oversee the Management of Change (MoC) process for engineering projects.
-
Provide engineering design and cost estimates for new projects and modifications.
-
Collaborate with Project Owners to develop Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documents.
-
Provide technical endorsement for CPORT, MoC, and CAPEX projects.
-
Offer technical support for critical equipment and oversee critical equipment repair specifications and procedures.
-
Ensure the integrity of critical assets through effective control governance.
-
Manage statutory requirements and governance for engineering activities.
-
Conduct inspections of critical vessels, tanks, and structures to ensure safety and compliance.
Reliability: -
Develop equipment strategies, including failure mode analysis and life cycle cost assessments.
-
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Special Attention Review (SAR) processes for equipment failures.
-
Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
-
Implement condition monitoring programs and analyze data to predict equipment failures.
-
Ensure data integrity for downtime tracking and reporting.
-
Develop long-term improvement plans for defect elimination and operational readiness.
-
Oversee condition monitoring initiatives to enhance equipment reliability.
Planning -
Develop and manage short-term planning (less than six weeks) and long-term planning (6 weeks to 12 months) for maintenance activities.

Coordinate shutdown and CAPEX planning efforts, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Maintain and manage master data for maintenance planning.
-
Develop and manage budgets and forecasts for OPEX, CAPEX, and asset availability.
-
Plan and forecast materials demand for a 12-month period.
-
Manage rotables, ensuring availability and optimal utilization.
-
Oversee administration, cost analysis, and reporting for engineering and maintenance activities.
-
Manage measurement points for condition monitoring and performance tracking.
-
Report all SHE incidents.
-
Demonstrate leadership in SHE through personal behaviours and conversations.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
-
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).

Minimum of 12 years extensive experience in engineering and maintenance management in the mining
-
Proven track record in leading engineering and reliability teams.
-
Experience in developing and implementing maintenance and reliability strategies.
-
Hands-on experience with Root Cause Analysis, condition monitoring, and defect elimination.

Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent.
-
Engineering Superintendent Certification by MinCom
-
Certification in Reliability Engineering (e.g., CMRP, CRE) preferred.
-
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.
-
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and inspire teams.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in maintenance planning and reliability engineering tools and software.

Proficiency CMMS software, preferably Pronto Xi 760

Proficiency Project Planning Software or applications, preferably Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC)

Proficiency AutoCad

Valid driver's license.

Asset management inclusive of asset strategy development, shutdown management, maintenance planning, and defect elimination.

Condition monitoring techniques inclusive of oil condition, thermography, vibration analysis, thickness testing, ultrasonic testing, and machine health systems.
